Racetrack Development

It is GamePod's this close relationship with motorsport, on and off, the track that has helped the GamePod range develop into the world leader of race seats for both games consoles and personal computers.

GamePod is now a household name within the motorsport industry and has always played an active role at major motorsport events.

In 2003 GamePod took part in a huge live open air concert at the Rockingham race circuit. As well as the Sugababes, one of the highlights was Radio 1 DJ’s Mark & Lard running GamePod competitions where members of the audience would compete against each other while over 20,000 people watched on two giant screens.

GamePod are proud of their continual involvement within the motorsport industry and can often be seen at major motorsport events across the UK.

Over the years the GamePod products have been featured on various TV programs, but the piece de resistance was when ITV asked if they could film the GamePod for their Racing Rivals series.

The location was a hotel near the Donington race circuit and the cast was the race drivers from the 2003 SEAT Cupra Championship.

Race drivers are a very competitive breed and don’t like to loose. So we apologise to any residents of the hotel that night who at 2am could not get to sleep due to the sound of burning rubber as several professional race drivers refused to go to bed and were determined to improve their lap times on the GamePod.

We all had a fantastic night and we would just like to thank the ITV crew, SEAT Sport UK, the race drivers and the hotel staff. Here are a selection of pictures.

The ITV film crew start setting up their equipment for the start of what will be a long (but very enjoyable) night.   The ITV film crew tell us that they need to test out the GamePods before they can start filming. An hour later we managed to persuade them to get off and start filming :o)

Spencer Marsh being filmed while he tries to put on a brave face for the camera. Not easy when you have several race drivers behind you trying to make you laugh.

There is a lot at stake and race drivers Spencer Marsh, Ben Winrow, Stephen Hodges and James Pickford are all taking it very seriously.   Race driver Andre D’Cruze’s look of concentration shows that racing a GamePod is as competitive as a race car.

It is now past 1am and SEAT Cupra Championship coordinator Mark Turner is determined to beat James Pickford. Spencer Marsh’s expression reveals he is not even close. Sorry Mark :o)   It is now past 2am and ‘GamePod Girl’ Vicky puts on a fake smile for the camera and wishes the race drivers would all finish and go to bed so we can pack up.

GamePod and the Renault Clio Cup

In 2006 GamePod also got involved with the Renault Clio Cup program with the Renault After-Sales sponsored Clio race car of driver Stephen Colbert.

Throughout the year the Renault Aftersales/GamePod roadshow toured the UK Renault dealerships and the public was invited to beat the race driver Stephen Colbert’s times on the GamePod.

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Stephen on his 3rd place in the Renault Clio Cup.
